Israel is a Country that is progressively establishing itself as an economic power in the Mediterranean and in the global economic scenario. This Report takes an innovative approach in the content of the analysis and the method by which this analysis has been carried out. It is based on three fundamental pillars that also represent the main parts of the study: 1) import-export relations between Italy and Israel; 2) the Agritech sector; 3) the shipping and port logistics sector. The latter two sectors are very strategic for Israeli economy.

Egypt offers multiples opportunities for international investors who’d like to consider basing certain stages of their production and business cycles in Egypt, in order to gain a favorable access to African and Middle Eastern markets. This research displays competitive advantages that qualify Egypt to play such role, especially its preferential trade agreements with major trade blocs. It also shows efforts exerted by Egyptian authorities to improve the investment climate in egypt, of which adopting a free-float exchange rate regime, decreasing tax rates and amending different laws to protect international investments and encourage their expansion.

This publication is a turning point toward the “Business Project” editorial line. The report – by examining trade flows and the movement of goods by sea – provides a picture of the international projection of the UAE, develops the infrastructural and logistic aspect with the situation of ports and container terminals, showing the high degree of connection between the UAE and the rest of the world and analyses the infrastructure that will impact, in a disruptive manner, the centrality of the Mediterranean and which will also affect the Gulf: the doubling of the Suez Canal.

This Report on Egypt – prepared in collaboration with AlexBank – is the fourth work carried out by the SRM’s Mediterranean Observatory in the framework of a multi-year programme named “Business Project” which is aimed at quantifying the value of the Italian business presence in the non-European Union countries with shores on the Mediterranean.

This Report on Tunisia is the third work carried out by the SRM’s Mediterranean Observatory in the framework of a multi-year programme named “Business Project” which is aimed at quantifying the value of the Italian business presence in the non-European Union countries with shores on the Mediterranean.
SRM’s estimates on the value of the Italian business presence in Tunisia (of which Italy is the second international largest trading partner), were compared to estimates for France, the country’s primary business partner.
