13 September 2019 SRM at the Politecnico di Torino for the presentation of the First Energy Report ENEMED

In these hours a technical discussion is being held on the themes developed in the First ENEMED Report – Med & Italian Energy Report, fruit of the structural collaboration between SRM and the ESL @ Energy Center. The event, introduced by the Rector of the Politecnico, Guido Saracco, sees the participation of numerous experts of the sector in various capacities engaged in the energy supply chain and the conclusions entrusted to Francesco Profumo, President of the Compagnia di San Paolo.

Despite the significant presence of reserves of fossil fuels, the production of energy commodities in the Mediterranean region is equal to just 3.9% of global energy production, which is not sufficient to meet internal energy demand. In view of the energy transition towards decarbonisation, the challenges of sustainable development require a reflection on the great potential for exploiting renewable sources, such as wind and solar, which this region, the object of our study, offers.

The project associated with the ENEMED annual report aims to develop science-based ad hoc methodologies, able to dynamically follow the evolution of the Mediterranean energy system over time and to evaluate the various impacts associated with it, providing a useful and flexible tool to stakeholders, both public and private, interested.
